Steamboat Springs, CO – The USA’s Vic Wild, of White Salmon, Wash., led the U.S. with third in Tuesday’s parallel slalom Race to the Cup snowboarding competition in Steamboat. Newport, Minn.’s Madeline Wiencke was the top female American rider in fourth. Canadians Matthew Carter and Ekate Zavialova clinched the victories.nCarter led the men’s field with fellow Canadian Steve Barlow in second and Wild rounding out the podium. Wild led two Americans inside the top-10 with Michael Trapp, of Hyannis, Mass., in seventh and Center Harbor, N.H.’s Christian Allen in eighth.
In the women’s race, Zavialova led a Canadian podium sweep with Ariane Lavigne second followed by Cora Fellows in third. Wiencke finished just shy of the podium in fourth, while Heather Herde (Oxford, Conn.) and Lynn Ott (Bend, Ore.) joined her in the top-10 in fifth and seventh.
The Race to the Cup will head to Mt. Bachelor, Ore., Feb. 5-6 for the next series of races.
