Steamboat City Manager in Critical Condition Following Ski Accident

Steamboat Springs, CO – Steamboat Springs’ city manager remains in a Denver hospital in critical condition this morning after being found unconscious at Steamboat Ski Resort on Sunday afternoon.nIt’s yet unclear what injuries Jon Roberts sustained while descending the Sitz ski run near the base of the mountain on Sunday. He was wearing a helmet at the time and was not near any trees or other obstacles.

Roberts was first taken to nearby Yampa Valley Medical Center before being flown to Denver Health Medical Center, where he remains unconscious but not comatose while accompanied by his wife, LeAnn. Deputy City Manager Wendy DuBord has assumed Roberts’ role until he returns to duty.

Ski area officials are urging any witnesses to Roberts’ mishap to contact the Steamboat Ski Patrol with information.
