Otepaa, Estonia – Saranac Lake, N.Y.’s Peter Frenette was the top U.S. finisher in 27th in the men’s HS 100 on Friday, the first men’s ski jumping event of the 2011 FIS Junior World Nordic Ski Championships in Otepaa, Estonia. Bulgaria’s Vladimir Zografski took first in the event with jump of 98 and 95 meters.nAustria’s Stefan Kraft finished the day in second and Estonia’s hometown hero, Kaarel Nurmsalu, jumped to third. On his second jump, Kraft sailed 100 meters, good for the longest jump of the day.
Frenette’s World Champ result, consisting of 87 and 80 meter jumps, follows a top-20 World Cup finish (18th) in Sapporo, Japan. Christian Friberg, of Roseville, Minn., finished 31st and fellow Minnesotan Brain Wallace was 52nd to round out Friday’s U.S. results.
Frenette and Co. return to Worlds action this Sunday.
