Olympic Valley, CA – Squaw Valley USA has named Dee Byrne as the Lake Tahoe ski and snowboard resort’s new Director of Snowsports School and Race Programs. With 37 years of experience in ski instruction, including eight years as the Director of Vail Snowsports School in Colorado, Byrne joins the team from Aspen/Snowmass where she served as the Business Development Manager for that resort’s Ski & Snowboard Schools.n“We are delighted to bring Ms. Byrne to the Squaw Valley team,” stated Andy Wirth, Squaw Valley’s President and Chief Executive Officer. “Byrne is one of the best in the industry, and we are honored to have her as part of our high performance management team.”
Byrne will be responsible for the management and future development of Squaw Valley’s Snowsports School including all aspects of strategic planning, product development, team building and daily operations. She assumed her new role on Monday.

Originally from Spokane, Wash., Byrne began skiing at age eight at Schweitzer in Idaho and skied with her family every weekend from that point through high school. Byrne started teaching skiing at age 14 and has not stopped since. During her career, Byrne has worked for several major resorts including New Zealand’s Cornet Peak and Beaver Creek, Vail and Aspen/Snowmass, all in Colorado. Byrne’s industry credentials include a PSIA Level III Certification, two terms on the PSIA National Alpine Demonstration Team, and six years on the PSIA National Education Advisory Council.
