Skier Strikes Tree, Dies at New York’s Hunt Hollow Ski Area

Naples, NY –A 54 year old man died Friday after colliding with a tree at western New York State’s Hunt Hollow Ski Club in Naples.nPaul Shiffer, of Perinton, N.Y., was found unconscious by witnesses in the woods off the bottom of a ski trail. He was transported by helicopter to F.F. Thompson Hospital in Canandaigua, N.Y., where he was pronounced dead.

He was reportedly an experienced skier and was wearing a helmet at the time. He was employed as a data center engineer for Finger Lakes Technologies Group Inc. in Victor, N.Y. An autopsy is pending.
