Huntsville, UT – Newly crowned World Champion, Park City, Utah’s Alex Schlopy, made it two wins in two weekends, laying down a solid slopestyle skiing run for a home-state win at the Winter Dew Tour at Snowbasin in Utah. Canada’s Kaya Turski won the women’s event and with a fourth-place finish, Bobby Brown of Breckenridge, Colo., took the overall Dew Tour title.n”It’s crazy to have won. I’ve been looking at those Dew Tour trophies for a long time, and I finally got one so I’m stoked,” said Schlopy. “It’s a beautiful day out here, and we’re having fun. It’s Utah, my hometown state so it’s good.”
Schlopy threw out a front 3 swap, blind 3 swap, blind 2 out, blind 630 out of the canyon, leftside 900 to switch 1440 for the win. He was followed on the podium by fellow Park City resident Joss Christensen in second and Australia’s Russ Henshaw in third. Brown finished just off the podium in fourth, but still solidified his place as the Dew Tour champ.
“I’m super stoked about winning the Dew Cup,” said Brown. “It’s great to be out in the sunny weather here in Snowbasin and to end up winning. I’m pumped.”
In the women’s competition Turski, of Montreal, Quebec, threw out a front switchup into switch 270 blind up to a front 270 out of the flat rail to a cab 720 to a cab 540, for the win. Devin Logan, of Dover, Vt., topped the field for the U.S. in second and Australia’s Anna Segal rounded out the podium in third.
“I’m just really excited to have won today,” said Turski. “I pulled it together, and I’m really stoked on my season so far so I hope I can just keep it going.”
