Bozeman, MT – A 22-year-old Montana State University student died Monday when he was swept away by an avalanche while snowboarding in Truman Gulch in the Bridger Mountain range north of Bozeman.nCaleb Acker was snowboarding with a friend and a dog at the time of the 1 p.m. incident on the west side of the Bridgers, near the town of Springhill. According to the Gallatin National Forest Avalanche Center the slide broke two to three feet deep.

Bridger Bowl Ski Patrol and Gallatin Search and Rescue members were airlifted to the area and located Acker’s body around 1:45 p.m.
