Park City, UT – Thursday was a day that many students at Parley’s Elementary School in Park City won’t soon forget. An ordinary school day quickly turned into a nice surprise when U.S. Snowboardcross athletes Jonathan Cheever, Alex Deibold, and X Games gold medalist Nick Baumgartner strolled in the front doors.nAfter introducing themselves to their starstruck audience, the athletes showed the group some clips from the recent X Games and then held a brief question and answer session.
The kids also had a chance to run around with the athletes afterwards, playing games of basketball and knockout with some of SBX’s best. Cheever, Deibold, and Baumgartner ended their impromptu visit with a series of high-fives and autographs.
The athletes were in Park City for the men’s and women’s U.S. Grand Prix SBX event at the Canyons Resort over the weekend, the last major competition before the final two World Cup races.
