Missing Mount Shasta Snowboarder Found Dead

Mount Shasta, CA – A 23-year-old snowboarder missing since Thursday at California’s Mt. Shasta Ski Park was found dead by searchers Sunday morning.nThe body of Alexander Gautreaux, of Mount Shasta, was located in trees approximately 100 feet from the ski area boundary on the southeast side of Coyote Butte. While the official cause of death is pending an autopsy, asphyxiation is suspected by authorities.

More than 75 rescuers searched for Gautreaux since Thursday. He was snowboarding alone during heavy snowfall on Thursday morning before phoning a family member shortly after noon, indicating that he was taking one final run. He was not seen or heard from thereafter, and his automobile was located in the ski area’s parking lot Thursday evening.
