Dayton, WA – A snowboarder missing at Ski Bluewood on Saturday was found after spending nearly 12 hours in the woods of southeastern Washington State.nMatt Thompson, 29, was riding with friends around 2 p.m. Saturday afternoon when he was feeling tired and stopped to rest. When friends couldn’t locate Thompson around 5 p.m., they reported him missing to authorities.
Roughly 25 searchers looked for Thompson, following his tracks and locating him outside ski area boundaries around 1:30 a.m. Sunday morning, where he had stopped to await rescuers after becoming disoriented. He was brought to safety and returned to the ski area’s base lodge by 5 a.m. He was reported to be uninjured in the ordeal.
