Missing White Pass Skiers Located

White Pass, WA – A pair of skiers who became lost outside of White Pass ski area’s boundaries in Washington were located when they built a fire to stay warm that was spotted by rescuers in a helicopter.nKristian Dahl, 24, and his unidentified 38-year-old uncle were reported missing by family members around 6 p.m. Saturday evening. The White Pass Ski Patrol and Yakima County Sheriff’s Department snowmobile units searched for the pair throughout the night before their fire was spotted by crews in a King County helicopter between Clear Lake and the ski area’s summit, about six miles from the ski area boundary. Snowmobile teams reached the pair around 8 a.m. Sunday morning.

Published reports indicate that ski area officials, frustrated by the frequency of lost skiers venturing beyond the boundaries of White Pass’ new Paradise Basin expansion terrain, will bill the pair for their rescue.
