13-Year-Old Strikes Tree and Dies at Quebec Ski Resort

Morin Heights (QC), Canada – An unidentified 13-year-old boy struck a tree and was killed while skiing Saturday night at Morin Heights ski area in the Laurentian Mountains northwest of Montreal.nThe victim, of Blainville, Quebec, was wearing a helmet when he lost control and left the intermediate Sept-Îles run around 7 p.m. Saturday evening, colliding with a tree. Ski patrol performed CPR efforts but the boy was pronounced dead about an hour later at an area hospital in St. Jérôme, Quebec.

The death was the first since 1992 at the resort, which is now owned by Saint-Sauveur International, the owner and operator of several ski areas in the Laurentians.
