Châtel, France – A British teen is in a coma after becoming entangled in a ski lift last week and suffocating.nKieran Brooks of south Devon, a student from Torquay Boys’ Grammar School on a half-term holiday visit to France’s Portes du Soleil region, was strangled by his clothing as he hung from the L’Echo des Montagnes six-pack chairlift after the chair in which he was riding cleared the upper terminal’s bullwheel and began traveling back downhill. The victim’s backpack hip belt was undone and became tangled in the lift chair, preventing the boy from disembarking the chairlift. The lift’s emergency stop gate was not triggered.

Rescuers cut the boy’s clothing to free him before he was transported to a local hospital, where he remains in a coma.
