Truckee, CA – An unidentified 30-year-old man died while snowboarding Sunday at Northstar-at-Tahoe ski resort in Truckee.nThe man, who has yet to be identified by the Placer County Sheriff’s Office, was found unconscious mid-morning on Sunday in a tree pod off the ski resort’s Challenger run, a black diamond served by the Backside Express. Ski patrol transferred the victim to a medical helicopter which transported him to Tahoe Forest Hospital in Truckee, where he was pronounced dead. He was not wearing a helmet at the time of the incident.
“Northstar-at-Tahoe Resort management and staff and the Vail Resorts family extend their deepest sympathy and support to the family and friends of the snowboarder,” Northstar spokesperson Jessica Van Pernis wrote in a press release. “The resort would like to acknowledge the assistance of the Northstar Fire Department and CareFlight staff in the rescue efforts.”
