Forest Service Approves Eldora Expansion Plan

Nederland, CO – Eldora Mountain officials indicate that the Colorado ski area near Boulder has received the green light for its master plan, opening the door for new lifts and trails.nIn addition to improving existing trails, buildings and lifts, including Corona, Challenge and Cannonball, the plans call for a pair of high-speed detachable six-pack chairlifts near the existing Indian Peaks and Corona lifts, but starting and ending lower on the mountain to render them less affected by wind.

Plans also call for an expansion and upgrade to Eldora’s base lodge, and a new reservoir for snowmaking water.

Even with the master plan’s approval, individual projects will still have to undergo environmental impact studies. Eldora Mountain officials are expected to first prioritize these projects and submit the first elements to the U.S. Forest Service for review.
