Penn. Ski Resort Spending $2M to Expand Water Park

Tannersville, PA – The slopes at Ski Camelback in the Pocono Mountains of eastern Pennsylvania aren’t scheduled to close until April 2, but resort officials are plowing snow from two of the ski area’s runs to make way for a $2 million expansion of the resort’s summer water park.n”Do we really need to push snow off the slopes this early? Not usually and a lot of guests are looking quite puzzled at the fact that we are,” says Brian Czarnecki, VP of Sales & Marketing at Camelback. “We’re only pushing the snow off two slopes to make way for the construction of the waterpark’s two new family tube rides, SandStorm and Dune Runner.”

The new investment comes on the heels of a $3 million expansion of the resort’s four-story Pharaoh’s Phortress ride house feature added in 2008. The park’s summer count of rides, slides and attractions now totals over 35.

“SandStorm has a pair of tantrum funnels for twice the thrills with twice the panic-inducing fun, while Dune Runner has triple dune drops that build your speed before plunging you into the waters below,” Czarnecki explains.
