Senior Skier Dies in Snowmass Collision

Snowmass, CO – A 73-year-old Pennsylvania man died Friday in a collision with another skier at Snowmass ski resort near Aspen, Colo.nJames E. Juckett, of Bath, Penn., was skiing the Log Deck run under the Alpine Springs chairlift around 11 a.m. Friday when the collision with another unidentified visitor occurred. Witnesses began CPR efforts before Snowmass Ski Patrol transferred the victim to EMS, which transported him to Aspen Valley Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The Pitkin County Coroner’s Office determined that Mr. Juckett died from multiple systems trauma. Neither party to the collision was wearing a helmet.

Juckett, reported to be an experienced skier, was skiing with friends when the incident occurred. He was retired from the procurement department at PPL Corporation, an electric utility based in Allentown, Penn.
