Steamboat Skier Suffocates in Snow

Steamboat Springs, CO – Authorities believe that a skier suffocated and died in deep snow last week in Steamboat Springs.nCooper Larsh, 19, of Boulder, Colo., was skiing in an off-limits of Howelsen Hill near the alpine slide last Thursday when the incident occurred. Tracks in the snow appeared to indicate that Larsh struck a bump and ejected from his skis, landing head-first in the snow.

Larsh was on spring break from his freshman year at College of Wooster in Ohio. He was vacationing in Steamboat Springs with his mother. An autopsy was being conducted by the Routt County Coroner to verify the cause of death.
