Avon, CO – An 18-year-old skier was killed last week after striking a tree at Beaver Creek Resort in Avon.nRichard Cullinan Jr., of the Pittsburgh region in Pennsylvania, was reportedly enjoying his first run of the day when he caught an edge and slid into the tree, according to witnesses quoted by Eagle County Coroner Kara Bettis.

Cullinan died of head injuries shortly thereafter at a Vail area hospital. He was reportedly wearing a helmet.
