Snowbird, UT – Utah’s Snowbird Ski and Summer Resort is experiencing one of the best spring seasons in memory thanks to three feet of snow in the past week and a mid-mountain base depth topping 13 feet. With additional snowfall forecasted through the weekend, après fun and Easter activities throughout April, officials are contemplating a ski and snowboard season that may extend beyond Memorial Day.n“The coverage and conditions on the mountain right now are truly remarkable,” said Snowbird President Bob Bonar. “Considering last year we received 12 feet of snow in April alone, it’s safe to say we have a lot of great spring skiing to look forward to at Snowbird.”

Snowbird’s projected closing date is Memorial Day, and the resort could potentially again offer skiing into June. Last year’s closing date was June 22, and in 2005 Snowbird kept its Little Cloud lift spinning until July 4. Skiers and riders who want to extend their season can purchase a Snowbird Spring Pass for $299, starting April 1, that is good through the end of the 2010-11 season.

April is full of non-skiing activities at Snowbird for young and old, including an Easter Sunrise Service on 11,000-foot Hidden Peak, followed by an Easter Egg Hunt on Chickadee and a special brunch at the Aerie Restaurant. Après ski fun includes free live music on the Plaza Deck, Saturday and Sunday afternoons through the end of April (weather permitting) along with daily food and drink specials. Coming on the heels of another successful Freeskiing World Championship event, the future stars of big mountain skiing will be taking to the hill for the Junior Freeskiing Nationals, April 8-10.
