New Owners Have Big Plans for Closed Ohio Ski Area

Butler, OH – New local owners have announced a $55 million plan to revive the dormant Clearfork Ski Area in Butler, closed since 2006.nArea residents Rick Weemhoff, Brian Johnson, Ben Flynn and Luke Flynn have purchased the ski area, where all four grew up and learned to ski, for an undisclosed amount from Resorts Inc. They plan to add concerts, festivals, shows, an indoor pool and facilities for private parties. Their five-year plan involves adding vacation lodging in the form of condominiums, cabins, chalets and yurts, and improving the current lodge while adding a new lodge and conference center.

On the hill, plans call for three new ski trails to augment the existing 11 runs. The new partners believe that their new development will add 210 full- and part-time jobs to the Clear Fork Valley.

Permits are currently being sought for sewer and water with the town of Butler. An open house has been scheduled for 2 to 7 p.m. on June 12 to provide tours, food and drink, ski membership information and resort ownership and rental opportunities.
