East Burke, VT – Vermont will soon have two ski mountains sporting a wind turbine, as Vermont utility regulators have given a green light for plans to build a tower atop Burke Mountain ski area in the state’s Northeast Kingdom that will join an existing wind energy installation at Bolton Valley ski resort in Bolton.nA certificate of public good for the 121-foot turbine was issued by the Vermont Public Service Board on March 29. Burke Mountain officials hope to break ground for the new facility this summer to have the turbine operational by the end of the year.
It is estimated that the turbine fulfill 15 percent of the ski area’s energy needs.
