Perisher Valley (NSW), Australia – Recent snowfalls and cold temperatures for snowmaking have combined to enable an early ski and snowboard season opening this Friday at Perisher, the first resort in Australia to do so this winter.
Officials will open the resort’s Mitchell T-Bar on Friday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. It will be joined by the Village 8 Express chairlift on Saturday.
Staffers are setting up a mini terrain park and basic resort facilities will be operating, including the Perisher Ticket Office, Perisher Snowsports Hire, JAX Bar; Ski Rock Cafe. The Skitube is not yet in operation. Lift ticket prices will be reduced to AUD $30 for adults and AUD $15 for children, and the resort is donating all proceeds to charity. Season passholders will ski or ride for free.
