Snow King’s managing partner Manuel Lopez had earlier stated that the resort above the town of Jackson would close next winter if a buyer could not be located by May 1. Lopez indicated last week that even though transfer of the resort to the non-profit group Friends of Snow King had been postponed, the resort’s lifts will in fact spin next winter.

Lopez indicated, however, that the resort will operated on a reduced budget that may include lift or slope closures.

Even though cell phone towers on the mountain generate ancillary revenue, Lopez has indicated in the past that the resort loses around half a million dollars annually.

Snow King Resort is also engaged in talks with the town of Jackson regarding turning over two parcels of land at the base of the mountain totaling 28 acres to the Jackson Hole Land Trust. The Resort is approximately $129,000 in arrears to the town for lease payments to operate the Snow King Center, which houses an ice rink.
