Oregon’s Mt. Bachelor to Reopen for July 4th Weekend Skiing

Bend, OR – Add Mt. Bachelor in Oregon to the growing list of ski and snowboard resorts across the western U.S. that will reopen for skiing and riding over the Independence Day weekend.

Mt. Bachelor will open for skiing and snowboarding from Saturday, July 2 through Monday, July 4, with intermediate and advanced skiing from the summit, snow and weather conditions permitting.  Regular summer operations will begin as planned on Friday, July 1st.

After a record-breaking snowfall season of 665 inches, upper elevations on Mt. Bachelor retain a deep snowpack. Skiing and snowboarding will be available from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. from the Summit Express chair, accessible via Pine Marten Express out of the West Village base area, providing the highest lift-served spring skiing in the Cascades. Lift tickets will be priced at $30 for all ages.  A reduced-rate $20 lift ticket will be offered to all 201011 full and midweek season pass holders, 12-day pass holders and club card members.

The first 250 skiers and snowboarders purchasing tickets each day will receive a commemorative t-shirt celebrating skiing and snowboarding over the July 4th holiday.  Skiers and sightseers alike will find live music at mid-day both Saturday and Sunday at the Pine Marten lodge.

Beginning Friday, July 1st, Mt. Bachelor will open its summer season activities and services including scenic chairlift rides, lunch daily at Scapolo’s Restaurant and the popular Sunset Dinners every Friday through Sunday evening at the Pine Marten Lodge.  Dinner reservations are recommended.  Frisbee golf and summer dog sledding will open as soon as conditions allow.

Mt. Bachelor summer services are available from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday through Sunday for Sunset Dinners.  All standard summer activities will be available in conjunction with the ski and snowboard operations during the July 4th Holiday weekend.

Other western U.S. resorts that have already announced Independence Holiday Weekend operations include Alpine Meadows, Squaw Valley, Sugar Bowl, Kirkwood and Mammoth Mountain, Calif., and Snowbird Ski & Summer Resort in Utah.
