Hunter, NY – Hunter Mountain and MAX BMW have partnered to offer the New York State ski resort’s first Off-Road Performance School, set to take place on July 4-5. Centrally located in the Catskill region, Hunter Mountain and its surrounding area—with its dirt trails, ski trails and off-roading terrain – is a perfect place for BMW owners to fine-tune their offroading skills. This event is the only Northeastern date of the off-roading school offered by MAX BMW for the summer of 2011.
The school will include drills on dirt, gravel, through water and on grass. Exercises include riding position, braking exercises, slalom, circles, figure eights, sand, stopping on a hill, gravel, recovery from a hill, hill climb and descent, riding ruts, whoops and logs, and others. All riders are required to wear full protective gear including helmets, gloves, riding jacket, riding pants and boots. Knobby tires are highly recommended.
“We’re really excited to be able to pursue further involvement with MAX BMW,” says Gerry Tschinkel, Vice President of Sales & Marketing at Hunter Mountain. “We believe our region is the perfect setting for the motorcycle crowd: the Colors in the Catskills Motorcycle Rally brings thousands of bikers through the region in October. To have an opportunity to serve as a base for MAX BMW’s off-roading school is an incredible opportunity.”
The cost of the program is $550 if registration is made by June 18th, and includes two days of instruction, lunch each day and dinner on the 4th of July. Riders are responsible for their own lodging—the Kaatskill Mountain Club, which also houses a full-service spa and restaurant, is available for booking. Interested riders can call (800) 486-8376 and mention they are with the MAX BMW party for a special rate.
Class size is limited. For questions or to register, please contact Max Stratton at max.stratton@maxbmwmotorcycles.com or call (203) 740-1270.
