Portoroz, Slovenia – TTR Pro Snowboarding has collaborated with the International Ski Federation (FIS) on creating the Freestyle Snowboard Task Force which will focus on creating a short term and long range strategy for competitive freestyle snowboarding.  The new task force was formed during the annual FIS Calendar Conference in Portoroz, Slovenia that members of the TTR board of directors were invited to attend.

Jeremy Forster, Director, US Snowboarding, will chair the task force, which will be composed of key members of the snowboard community including: Reto Lamm, TTR President; Maria McNulty, TTR Executive Board Member; Uwe Beier, FIS Snowboard Race Director; and Roberto Moresi, FIS Assistant Race Director, as well as riders, national representatives, judges and coaches. The immediate focus for the group will be to generate a proposal for the International Olympic Committee (IOC) that centers on developing a fair system for freestyle snowboard athletes to qualify for the Olympics that includes the best FIS World Cup events and the best TTR events. The task force will also be called on to identify a long term vision over the next five to 10 years for a successful competitive freestyle snowboarding landscape.

“The TTR is very enthusiastic about the recent developments regarding the formation of the Freestyle Snowboard Task Force,” said Lamm. “It is important that both sides put their best efforts forward to create a short term and long range plan that will collectively propel our sport forward and will allow the best riders in the world to showcase their skills at not only at the Olympics, but all top level events around the globe.
