South Lake Tahoe, CA – Visitors to South Lake Tahoe can celebrate red, white and blue this Fourth of July weekend. Red tubes, blue sky and white snow, that is.
Heavenly Mountain Resort plans to run the longest snow tubing hill on the West Coast during Fourth of July weekend. The sleek snow tubing hill provides four lanes of action, a 65-foot drop in elevation and a gentle standing lift or “magic carpet” to take guests back up to the top.
A one-hour tubing ticket costs $30 per person and does not include a $32 (adult price) round-trip ticket to ride Heavenly’s gondola to reach the snow. Sliders must be 42 inches or taller to participate in tubing; children under 42 inches may try sledding for $10.
The South Lake Tahoe area offers a plethora of activities over the July 4th holiday weekend, highlighted by the spectacular Lights on the Lake fireworks show. Those still itching to ski or snowboard may do so at nearby Kirkwood, Alpine Meadows, Squaw Valley or Sugar Bowl, although lift access at the latter resort is available for season passholders only.
