Stratton Mountain, VT – Vermont’s Stratton Mountain ski resort will celebrate the Independence Day summer weekend on the same slopes skiers enjoy in winter, with activities ranging from live music to pie eating contests.
Visitors can take a ride on the resort’s gondola and see Stratton from a whole new perspective. Visit your favorite trails and experience them in all their lush summer glory. The gondola will be running Saturday through Monday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day. Double Diamond in the base lodge will be selling baskets filled with picnic goodies to enjoy at the summit.
The Fourth is meant to be spent outdoors celebrating the country’s beauty. Kick off the weekend with Saturday morning Yoga at the Summit at 10:30 a.m. and end the day with live music and 9 p.m. fireworks at the base. While you’re waiting for the show to begin caricaturists, stilt walkers and fire eaters will entertain in the Village and wiffle ball games, tug of war, sack races, hay rides and kayak rentals will be available.
Saturday’s schedule of events also includes the Dave Keller Band taking the village stage from noon to 4 p.m., and a free concert with Adam Ezra from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. followed immediately by the fireworks. A courtyard barbecue will serve summer favorites from 11a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, followed by a base area BBQ and Pig Roast from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. The Pie and Hot Dog Eating Contests will take place at 6 p.m. on Saturday.
