Kirkwood, CA –Music at Kirkwood is returning to Kirkwood Mountain Resort for its seventh season, July 13-17, 2011. The chamber music festival, which was co-founded by Amy Duxbury and Dawn Harms, provides adult amateur musicians with coaching by a world-class faculty, culminating in a weekend of public performances. Participants will travel to the California ski resort to be coached by members of the San Francisco Opera Orchestra, the San Francisco Ballet Orchestra, and the New Century Chamber Orchestra..
The faculty performance is scheduled for this Saturday at 7:30 p.m. in the Red Cliffs building. The 2011 Music at Kirkwood faculty includes Dawn Harms, Liz Prior, Anna Kruger, Susan Babini, Thalia Moore, Roxanne Michaelian, and Rufus Olivier. The program will include works by Vivaldi, Dvorak, tangos, and various Broadway show tunes. Special guests include Melody Moore, soprano, and Bur Phillips, baritone. Music at Kirkwood workshop participants will perform on Sunday at 2 p.m. Tickets for the faculty concert are $30 ($25 for Kirkwood Community Association members).
