Cortland, NY – Operators of Greek Peak have announced that the central New York ski resort’s new quad chairlift has been put on ice by a delayed financial commitment by the ski area’s lender.
“The manufacturer of the chairlift, Doppelmayr USA, has been on site for several months mapping and drawing out the new lift line,” resort officials explained in an email released this week. “Intentions were to install the lift in time for this coming season, but the funding delay puts us at the risk potential of being down one lift for December and January. We can not take that risk.”
The resort did not identify the lender of provide an explanation for the delay.
The new lift has been ordered from Doppelmayr and resort officials are still committed to construction set to begin in the spring of 2012 and operational for the 2012-13 ski and snowboard season. The Northwoods themed base area improvements at Greek Peak are currently underway to deliver changing areas, a new conference center and more by the time the 2011-12 winter season starts.
“In appreciation of your understanding and constant support, we are offering all season pass holders a complimentary Mountain Coaster ride and discounts at the new Adventure Center,” the email continued. “This offer is valid all summer, through August. Just give your name at the ticket counter to receive your ride and special rate.”
Greek Peak has been undergoing a transformation in recent years, the biggest component of which is a new 41,000 square foot indoor water park.
