World’s Top Snowboarder, Jamie Anderson, Touches Down in New Zealand

Lake Wanaka, New Zealand – New Zealand is welcoming the world’s top-ranked women’s snowboarder, Jamie Anderson, at this week’s Billabong Slopestyle event.

This laid-back Californian is a huge star on the global woman’s snowboard scene. At the tender age of 16, Anderson won her first Gold medal at the Winter X Games in the slopestyle event, upending Shaun White as youngest medalist in Winter X Games history. Now at age 20, Anderson is the TTR World Women’s Champion and has won close to 20 worldwide competitions.  She now has her eyes set firmly on the Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia in 2014.

A force to be reckoned with, Anderson believes she’s living her dream. Anderson will be competing at the Billabong Slope Style at New Zealand’s Snow Park in Wanaka, from Thursday through Saturday. This annual competition showcases some of the best talent in the slopestyle field, with competition heating up this year thanks to the large contingent of international and local talent who are all aiming to take take the event’s big titles. 

“I am so excited to be in beautiful New Zealand!” says Anderson. “It is one of my favorite places in the whole world, and I always look forward to spending time there. I will be competing in the Billabong ‘Bro Down’ event and the New Zealand Open, and then I’ll have some free time to enjoy the country. Maybe go to the coast, sky-dive, heli-board…I want to do it all!”
