Park City, UT – As Stein Eriksen Lodge’s 30th Anniversary approaches, the luxurious hotel slopeside at Utah’s Deer Valley Resort is paying homage to its namesake, legendary Norwegian ski champion Stein Eriksen. The patriarch of elegant skiing, Eriksen successfully combined his passion for skiing with a desire to develop an internationally renowned luxury hotel.

Since opening in the early 80s, Stein Eriksen Lodge has provided the highest caliber of service to its guests. The Lodge has been recognized as one of the finest mountain resorts in the world, garnering some of the industry’s most prestigious accolades, such as Forbes Five Star and AAA Five Diamond.

“Stein changed the face of alpine skiing in the U.S.,” said Russ Olsen, CEO of Stein Eriksen Lodge. “He challenged himself to master the art of alpine, and with that, his style of skiing became legendary and his persona larger than life. Stein parlayed all that he knows and loves about skiing into an incredible career and set the foundation for a hotel unrivaled in the world.”

To accomplish his vision for the Lodge, Eriksen, now 83,  and business partner Edgar Stern, the founder of Deer Valley Resort, traveled extensively to luxury ski hotels throughout the world, many which Eriksen’s family frequented during his childhood.  Distinguishing itself from other properties, Stein Eriksen Lodge has what many ski hotels lack: personality.

The Lodge’s abundance of charm comes from a wealth of custom-made unique touches. From hand-painted Rosemaling (a form of decorative flower painting that originated in the low-land areas of Eriksen’s native Norway), custom millwork, and original artwork in the common areas and guest rooms to the hand-crafted bar and elaborate trophy case which houses Eriksen’s 1952 Olso Olympic Medals.  Stein Eriksen Lodge maintains the heritage of its namesake with an inviting and elegant atmosphere that elicits a sense of belonging in its guests.

Along with boasting guest rooms, 68 of which are suites, amenities at the ski-in/ski-out property include full-service concierge, ski valets, ski locker room, twice daily maid service, rental shop, boutiques, and the hotel’s award-winning Glitretind restaurant and resort spa.
