Budapest, Hungary – Hungary’s unique winter festival, the Monster Energy Budapest Fridge will return to the capital city of Budapest from November 10 to 13.
A 34 meter-high steel ramp, the equivalent of a 10-story building, will be constructed and covered with 200 tons of snow some 30-40cm deep. Many of the world’s best snowboarders and freeskiers, international concerts and DJs will ensure that Budapest will come alive this winter. The TTR 4-star event organized by MEEX will be held this year at a new venue, the newly renovated ice rink in the Budapest City Park. Musical entertainment will be provided by underground artists including Infected Mushroom, Steve Aoki, Freestylers and the Dub FX with the party continuing through the night until 5 a.m. each evening. Spectators are expected to number 40,000.
Top-ranked Hungarian snowboarder Viktor “Szigi” Szigeti is expected to compete in the Budapest Fridge, alongside a list of international ski and snowboard stars anticipated to include Jacob Wester, Kevin Rolland, Alex Schlopy and Tom Wallisch.
Mulled wine and brandy will be served on the street, and entertainment will be augmented by skateboard and BMX shows and competitions, a climbing wall, ski school, ice skating, a hockey tournament, curling, a Skullcandy photo booth and more. A holiday village will include representatives from popular Austrian ski regions to answer questions and provide information. The Zoo York amateur mini half pipe jam will take place at 2 p.m. with registration at the Zoo York booth. Those ranked first through third, and the winner of the best trick contest will share £100,000-worth of prizes from Zoo York.
