Greenwood, ME – After losing its base lodge to a lightning strike and fire in July, construction workers are building a temporary base lodge at Maine’s Mt. Abram ski resort that will be ready in time for the winter season.

A 50 x 100-foot structure, built by Rubb USA of Sanford, Maine and formed from tensioned fabric over a steel frame, will be the ski resort’s temporary home for the 2011-12 season. It will include the resort’s Loose Boots Lounge, seating, lockers and other amenities.
Resort officials acknowledge that with the fire occurring mid-summer, their options that could be in place for the 2011-12 winter season were limited. However, “The myriad of complexities associated with the lightning strike, ensuring a recovery consistent to our unpretentious, non-factory, skier and rider centric ways are under control and progressing on schedule,” says Mt. Abram owner Matt Hancock.
