Stowe, VT – Vermont’s Stowe Mountain Resort has hired Sam Gaines as Director of Real Estate Development. In his new job, Gaines will execute the real estate development master plan strategy for Stowe Mountain Resort and Spruce Peak at Stowe, as well as managing all aspects of real estate design, engineering, permitting, compliance, contracting, construction and sales.

“Sam brings a passion for all areas of the resort experience and a wealth of knowledge about residential real estate equity and development,” states Robert McEleney, CEO and President of Stowe Mountain Resort. “He’s worked with us from within our parent company for several years so his insight and understanding of Stowe Mountain Resort are at the highest level.  As an avid outdoorsman, Sam couldn’t be better suited for life in Stowe.”

Gaines comes to Stowe directly from New York where he served in an advisory role with parent company Chartis on its acquisition of Stowe Mountain Resort from Chartis’ parent American International Group (AIG). There, Gaines worked directly with resort officers to create and implement a long-term strategic plan to elevate the Stowe brand and develop a prospering second-home community. Gaines also assisted resort management in making mountain infrastructure and real estate investment decisions.  In addition to advising Chartis on Stowe, his experience includes creating and managing investments in multi-family, luxury condominium and mixed-use master plan projects throughout the U.S.
