Underwood Named U.S. Ski & Snowboard Association Trustee

Park City, UT – John Underwood, Managing Director with Goldman Sachs & Co. in San Francisco, has been named to the U.S. Ski and Snowboard Team Foundation’s Board of Trustees.

Underwood, an avid skier since the age of five, lived and skied in Europe for some time before he became a PSIA certified ski instructor at Vail in Colorado. He joined Goldman Sachs & Co. in 1998 after earning his MBA from Vanderbilt University. He was named managing director in 2006.

“John Underwood brings a strategic business background to our Board,” said U.S. Ski and Snowboard Association’s (USSA) President and CEO Bill Marolt. “His passion for our sport and his dedication to future athletes makes him a key piece to the success of our organization.”

The U.S. Ski and Snowboard Team Foundation is the nonprofit, fundraising arm of the USSA, the national governing body of Olympic skiing and snowboarding.

Underwood serves on the board of the Larkin Street Youth Service and the Alumni Board of the Owen Graduate School of Management at Vanderbilt University. He is also a former director for Squaw Valley Ski Corp. and a founding member of the Global Institute of Sustainability Board of trustees.

“I’m most excited about getting involved with the athletes and mentoring them throughout their careers” said Underwood. “Skiing has been very good to me and I’m anxious to give back.”

Along with his wife Amy and four children, Underwood resides in Hillsborough, Calif., and three of their children are in the race program at their home mountain, Squaw Valley.
