Boreal Starts Ski Season in California

Donner Summit, CA – Getting the jump on its competition, Boreal Ski Resort on Donner Summit in California will launch its ski and snowboard season at 3 p.m. this afternoon.

In keeping with tradition, Boreal will once again open for October skiing and riding with one lift, the Nugget chairlift, and one run with four to five park features Friday and Saturday. This afternoon’s start will make Boreal the first ski resort to open in California this winter.

Resort services will be available including season pass sales, food, beverages, and retail.  Lift tickets are subject to sell-out.   Due to limited terrain, no beginner terrain or ski school will be available this weekend.

Lift tickets are priced at $15 for all ages and all Boreal season passes will be honored regardless of restrictions. Skiing will be offered until 8 p.m. this evening and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday. Operations beyond Saturday have yet to be determined.

To celebrate the beginning of the season, the 7th Annual Jibassic Public Invitational (JPI.7), Boreal’s pre-season jib contest,will take place on Saturday. JPI.7 is open to the public and $1,000 cash will be handed out in the public park.
