Salt Lake City, UT – Black Diamond, Inc., a manufacturer of climbing, skiing and mountain sports equipment based in Salt Lake City, has hired Brian Mecham as director of North America sales for its Black Diamond brand.

Mecham comes to Black Diamond from Patagonia, where he served as the western regional sales manager since 2002. Mecham’s history with Black Diamond begins in 1994, where he served as its retail sales manager before moving to a sales representative role from 1997-2001.

“We are excited that Brian has rejoined Black Diamond, as he has long been a part of our corporate community,” said Peter Metcalf, CEO of Black Diamond, Inc. “With a diverse and comprehensive sales management expertise in specialty outdoor, combined with a passion for climbing and skiing, Brian is the ideal fit to lead our North American sales efforts. Brian will play a key role in the launch of Black Diamond apparel planned for the fall of 2013, and report directly to Chris Grover, our vice president of sales.”

As director of North America sales for Black Diamond, Mecham will be part of a five person team that provides vision, leadership and strategy for the brand’s direction, product development and marketing functions.
