Mt. Crested Butte, CO – Crested Butte Mountain Resort (CBMR) has named Scott Clarkson as its vice president of marketing and sales. Clarkson comes to Crested Butte with over 25 years of experience in ski industry marketing; he spent 15 of those years at Okemo Mountain Resort in Vermont, a sister resort of CBMR.
“Scott’s expertise, personality and general approach are going to be a great fit for the marketing and sales team and the company as a whole,” says Ethan Mueller, vice president and general manager for CBMR. “He values what we believe in as a resort and has a vision for moving Crested Butte forward in the marketplace.”
Most recently, Clarkson was hired to oversee FestEVOL for the Triple Peaks resorts, a concert and lifestyle series that takes place throughout the month of March. Prior to his work for FestEVOL, he was the vice president of marketing and sales for Squaw Valley USA in Lake Tahoe, Calif. He left Okemo with a strong desire to move west and when the opportunity at CBMR recently arose, he knew it was the perfect fit. In his new duties, Scott will continue to be involved in FestEVOL for Triple Peaks.
“I am very excited to be joining the Crested Butte team,” adds Clarkson. “I’ve been interested in becoming a part of this destination community since the Mueller family first became involved. I have vacationed at Crested Butte each year since 2005. This is a very special and beautiful place with unique, year-round attributes that I look forward to promoting nationally and internationally.”
Throughout the years, Clarkson has committed himself to the industry and his hometown by serving as the executive secretary for the New England Ski Areas Council (NESAC) and the marketing committees for both the National Ski Areas Association and the Vermont Ski Areas Association. He also served on the board of directors for the West River Sports Association, in Weston Vermont, overseeing Nordic skiing and soccer programs for the youth in his community.
Clarkson will begin his new role at CBMR on November 17, 2011.
