Bend, OR – Two men accused of stealing snowboards from a store near Portland, Ore. have been arrested in Bend after trying to fence them.
William Scott Maret, 29, and Russel Peter Woodruff, 19, both of Portland, were arrested on Sunday after the owner of The Gear Peddler, an outdoor equipment shop in Bend, called police to say that the pair were trying to sell seven new snowboards. Bend police say that the snowboards were stolen during an Oct. 25 burglary of Sublimity Snow and Skateboard Shop in Beaverton, Ore. Police found other stolen snowboards as well as heroin and drug distribution paraphernalia in a search of the suspects’ vehicle and hotel room.
The two accused men are now in the Deschutes County Jail in lieu of bail, awaiting arraignment. Bend police say that they’re anxious to speak with anyone who bought merchandise from the pair in recent days.
