The Colorado Mountain Club to Host the 19th Annual Backcountry Bash

Golden, CO – The Colorado Mountain Club (CMC) will host the 19th annual Backcountry Bash on Saturday, Dec. 3, at the American Mountaineering Center in Golden.  The Bash will raise money and awareness for the Colorado mountain conservation, education, and recreation organization’s Backcountry Snowsports Initiative program, which advocates for preservation of winter backcountry areas for quiet human-powered use. Last year, a sold-out crowd of more than 350 outdoor enthusiasts and conservationists attended the event, raising over $29,000 for the cause.

This year, the Backcountry Bash will feature Sweetgrass Productions’ newest ski film, “Solitaire.” Wandering the length of a continent from Peru’s Cordillera Blanca to Chilean Patagonia, “Solitaire” fuses western-inspired tales of backcountry gambles into landscapes never before visited on film.

An array of sponsors has already committed to making the event a success. Avery Brewing Company continues as the official provider of free beer; Chipotle Mexican Grill will provide a taco bar, Rudi’s Organic Bakery will provide complimentary food; and a host of leading outdoor companies will supply an impressive selection of gear, clothing, skis, snowshoes, hut trips and more to the silent and live auctions. Among the list of auction items are: K2 Telemark skis; Tenth Mountain Division Hut stays; ski and snowboard gear by Voile; Telemark boots by Scarpa; festival tickets from Planet Bluegrass; a Valentine’s Day weekend at Vagabond Ranch huts; ski tickets from Aspen Skiing Company; men’s and women’s outdoor clothing by Flylow, Patagonia, Ibex, Outdoor Research, and others; and outdoor gear from Smith Optics, Backcountry Access, Big Agnes, Dynafit, Thule, Leki, Atlas Snowshoes, Osprey Packs, The North Face, Fischer Skis, Deuter, and others.

The American Mountaineering Center, home of the CMC, is located at 710 10th St in Golden, Colorado. Tickets are $25 online at www.cmc.org/bash or $30 at the door. REI Denver and Boulder locations are also selling tickets. Doors open at 5:30 p.m.
