Active Networks Purchases RTP

San Diego, CA – The Active Network, Inc., a provider of organization-based cloud computing applications, on Friday announced the acquisition of RTP, LLC, an enterprise solutions company serving the ski resort market. RTP’s technology encompasses the way ski resorts manage everything from selling tickets to activities and and gear rentals, capturing customer transactional data for analysis and marketing.

“RTP has built a solid reputation in the resort market and is an excellent complement to our mission of connecting people with the activities they love, want and need to do all-year-round,” said Dave Alberga, CEO of Active Network. “RTP has deep and authentic vertical market expertise and helps balance the seasonality of our business.”

RTP began as a point-of-sale commerce engine in 1998 for Vail and other Rocky Mountain ski resorts and has since expanded globally to serve not only ski resorts, but also other recreation, and parks and attractions businesses in the United States, Canada, North America, the Caribbean, Australia and Europe. Customers include Aspen Skiing Company, Intrawest, Powdr Corp., SkiStar, Vail Resorts and Verbier–St.–Bernard. It’s responsible for the new live mobile ticketing app at Whistler Blackcomb and RFID-enabled lift access gates at ski resorts worldwide.

Active Network plans to continue selling and supporting the RTP product and service portfolio which, in addition to its commerce engine RTP|One, includes a mobile augmented reality platform; mobile commerce applications; interactive website design; and integrated RFID access control technologies.
