Copper Mountain, CO – Three Copper Mountain employees were arrested on Friday for stealing $6,400 worth of equipment from the U.S. Ski Team, which is conducting early season training at the Colorado ski resort.
According to the Summit County Sheriff’s Office, police arrested William Walker Lancaster, 23, Ryan Allen Lundquist, 23, and James Neal Callahan, 25, and charged all three with theft, a class 4 felony which carries a sentence of up to six years in prison and a $500,000 fine if convicted. All three live in the Copper Mountain area. The Sheriff’s Office says that the accused stole new jackets, gloves, base layers and more from the Ski Team conference room at the resort, and that Ski Team officials noticed the items missing on Thursday night.
The men were questioned by Copper Mountain security officers, who handed the matter over to the Sheriff’s Office. Police recovered most of the missing items in Lancaster’s apartment and in a nearby dumpster. They say that Lancaster and Lundquist admitted to the thefts, while Callahan acted as a lookout.
All three men were released on bond pending arraignment.
