Squaw Valley, CA – Squaw Valley’s ski team is heading to the FIS Alpine World Cup in Aspen, Colo., this week to cheer on the Lake Tahoe resort’s Olympic Gold Medalist, Julia Mancuso, as she takes on the fastest female skiers in the world. A Squaw skier since age 2,Mancuso is one of the fastest women in ski racing, having won an Olympic Gold Medal, two Silver Medals and first place in final race of last year’s World Cup season.
In honor of the first major ski racing competition of the season, Squaw Valley and Mancuso have launched a special eBay auction to benefit the High Fives Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to helping winter action sports athletes with life-altering injures get back on their feet. The auction runs through Monday and includes a pair of 2012 Völkl Gotamas, Marker Jester Bindings, two Gold Tahoe Super Passes with unlimited access to Squaw Valley and Alpine Meadows, and a private Dawn Patrol with Mancuso and 20 people providing early access to Squaw’s slopes. The Gold Tahoe Super Passes, valid at both Squaw Valley and Alpine Meadows, offer unlimited skiing and riding on over 6,000 acres, 44 lifts and over 270 trails for the 2011-12 winter season. The private Dawn Patrol with Mancuso will be valid over the December holiday period, offering the winner and 19 of his or her friends access to several of Squaw’s lifts before the general public (lift tickets or a season pass required).
Squaw Valley also invites Mancuso’s fans who will be in Aspen for the FIS Alpine World Cup to join them for après race fun at the Squaw Valley Julia Mancuso House, located walking distance from the World Cup race venue. For more information, find the Squaw team at finish line cheering for Julia.
