Vermont’s Suicide Six Ski Area Celebrates 75 Years

Woodstock, VT – Steeped in history, The Woodstock Inn & Resorts’ Suicide Six Ski Area celebrates its 75th anniversary this winter.

Suicide Six was “discovered” in 1934 when Dartmouth grad Wallace “Bunny” Bertram set up the country’s first rope tow on Gilbert’s Hill, becoming the first ski lift in the Eastern U.S.  Armed with topographical maps, Bertram skied the area, including nearby Hill No. 6, which he deemed “suicide” to ski down. Two years later, Bertram opened Suicide Six.
