Skowhegan, ME – The owner of Eaton Mountain ski area in Maine was injured Sunday when a snow grooming vehicle ran over him.
David Beers, 40, who purchased Eaton Mountain three years ago, was working with two other men to reattach a track on a snowcat when the 18,000-pound machine went into gear and ran over him. He was transported via LifeFlight to Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor, where he underwent surgery for a dislocated ankle and a broken jaw. Other than minor cuts and bruises, those were Beers’ only injuries in the mishap.
Beers, of Wallingford, Conn., was reportedly standing by the machine when the incident happened. One of the two men assisting Beers was in the cab of the vehicle, but is reportedly unclear what caused the snowcat to slip into gear.
