First Annual Beaver Creek Food & Wine Weekend Set for Jan. 26-28

Avon, CO – Beaver Creek Resort has teamed up with the epicurean brand FOOD & WINE to provide a three-day winter culinary celebration on the slopes. Chefs John Besh, Tim Love, Marc Murphy, Stephanie Izard, Lachlan Mackinnon Patterson and Richard Sandoval will join local host chefs to produce a palate-pleasing culinary extravaganza featuring casual, yet interactive and fun events from après-ski to First Tracks on the slopes, to exclusive dinners with menus prepared by celebrity chefs. Events will be hosted at a variety of restaurants throughout the Colorado ski resort, including the host hotel, the Park Hyatt Resort and Spa.

Besh is the executive chef and co-owner of the Besh Restaurant Group based in New Orleans. His collection of restaurants includes August, La Provence, Lüke, Besh Steak, Domenica and The American Sector.  Love is chef and owner of The Lonesome Dove Western Bistro and The Love Shack in Fort Worth, Texas.   Murphy is the executive chef and owner of Landmarc in Tribeca, a neighborhood in lower Manhattan, and the Time Warner Center in Manhattan and also Ditch Plains in the West Village.   Izard is chef and partner of the Chicago restaurant Girl & the Goat. Patterson is chef and owner of Boulder, Colo.-based Frasca Food and Wine, while Sandoval is chef and owner of Richard Sandoval Restaurant Group which operates 26 restaurants including Cima, Venga Venga, Zengo and Maya.

No culinary event is complete without expertly paired wines to sip and sample and this year, the author of FOOD & WINE’S Wine Guide 2009 and 2010, sommelier and journalist Anthony Giglio, will bring his humor and insight to the slopes at Beaver Creek where he also will host the Winter Wonderland Wine Seminars.

Beaver Creek’s FOOD & WINE Weekend begins with the Meet the Chefs Reception on Thursday and other highlights include the Guided Snowshoe and Luncheon, First Tracks Ski Breakfast, wine seminars and cooking classes. Saturday evening’s Grand Tasting is the crescendo of all of the  chefs and foods prepared and shared in this winter setting.
