British Skier Hits Sign, Dies at Heavenly

South Lake Tahoe, CA – A 34-year-old British man struck a sign post and died at Heavenly Mountain Resort in South Lake Tahoe on Tuesday, according to the El Dorado County Sheriff’s Department.

Sheriff’s department officials indicate that Christopher Michael Perring of the U.K. swerved to avoid another skier and crashed into a sign post at about 3 p.m. on Tuesday, sustaining blunt force trauma to his chest.

Ski patrol provided first aid at the scene but Perring reportedly died before a helicopter arrived to transport Perring to an area hospital for treatment.
