Salt Lake City, UT – Earlier this season one of skiing’s greats was lost in an avalanche in the Wasatch. Jamie Pierre died last November in a tragic accident at a still-closed Snowbird Ski & Summer Resort that shocked the ski industry. He was one of skiing innovators, a friend to many skiers around the world, and was considered as an all around great person by his many friends.
Pierre’s friends are offering fans a chance to show their support for the fallen skier and his family this Thursday night at Brewvies in downtown Salt Lake City. The restaurant, bar and theater will host two ski movies, along with an after party that will include prizes, a raffle and auction. The shows will begin at 7 p.m. with Poorboyz Production’s “Grand Bizzare,” followed by Teton Gravity Research’s “One for the Road”. The movies will be followed by a DJ in the bar area and patrons can always enjoy food and drinks while watching movies at Brewvies.
Tickets will be offered in exchange for a recommended $5 donation, and raffle tickets will cost $5 as well. Proceeds will go to Pierre’s family as well as the Utah Avalanche Center. Event organizers say that if you can’t afford the ticket come anyway and give what you can. There will be plenty of giveaways and raffle prizes to go around. Friends and supporters can also donate to the cause from afar with the Paypal link at www.jamiepierre.com.
